Domestic violence needs to be treated as the crime it is and not as a personal problem that the victim alone needs to address. Everyone can be active in encouraging passage of legislation that deters domestic violence and benefits victims. Anyone who witnesses domestic violence or suspects this crime is occurring should dial 911. Callers may request that the dispatcher keep their identity anonymous. Despite the problems highlighted in the news stories, Schuylkill County has a strong history of community systems cooperating to foster positive change. While the courts did come under scrutiny in the stories, they should be acknowledged for their easy accessibility to victims seeking Protection From Abuse Orders and commended for their support for funding that ensures civil representation for all victims of domestic violence as well as domestic violence training for members of the local judiciary. Additionally, we believe the need for increased penalties for repeat offenders is a problem statewide, not just locally. We specifically want to thank Maria Herne for her time and sensitivity. It takes great courage for any victim to discuss the personal aspects of their lives, and many of them commented upon Maria's skill in putting them at ease. We also want to thank the victims who agreed to share their stories in the hopes of helping others. We recognize that, ultimately, those who choose to abuse or kill are responsible for the violence they inflict. But because lethal offenders typically have a history of violence, the community owes its members the security that all possible measures have been taken to deter such violence. As long as we continue to have women and children maimed and murdered by family members, we as a community need to face that something is very wrong. Martina Roos, SWIC President Sarah T. This web site is strictly for your information about what is happening in our state; Pennsylvania. Information and opinions on this website are NOT "legal" advice but ARE friendly advice from people who have been through the local domestic relations office and are very familiar with the crimes against humanity that office is getting away with strictly for PROFIT at the expense of fathers and their children. Feel free to copy and repost any information on this site unless said information is credited to a web site other than Pennsylvania Family Court Reform (this website). In this case, you must ask permission from the author, and since it's been our experience that most of the people that support our cause are good people, they most likely won't have a problem with it. It's time to reclaim our state and our rights as Americans that are being trampled and ignored by a select portion of our state government, who's sole interest is PROFIT from federal grants for "child support" collection, at our expense... our JUDICIAL branch.
