I am writing on behalf of my son who lives in PA. He is a divorced father of two boys. Up until last year he had no problem paying his child support. But last year he lost his job and has been unable to get another. Two months ago he came down with Bells Palsy which contributed to his dilemma. He has not seen his boys in about 4 or 5 months. Each time he goes to pick them up, no one is home. If he calls to speak to the boys or to his ex-wife he is verbally abused in front of his children. He has stopped calling. She has had him at the family courts a few times when he has been late with his support, I have been helping him pay his support. The last time being a few months ago. He was told at that time if he does not pay the support he will be thrown in jail. When he tried to tell them that she does not permit him to see his children, he was told that is not their problem. When he called his lawyer about it, he was told this is something he must learn to live with. He knows that she is collecting state aid, lives in her mothers home with a male companion who does work. Where are the laws in Pa. to help the father?
