well, here's a doozy for ya, I have been paying support in Schuylkill county, for 2 children. My son turned 18 last June, I was under the impression that if the child goes on to college, you must continue to pay. While having a conversation with him, the subject of child support came up. He asked me if I was still paying, and I told him yes. He seemed very surprised . apparently his mom was getting the checks and keeping them herself. A friend of mine told me I should contact domestic relations to change the payee to him. Imagine my surprise when I called and they told me I have been paying almost a year to long! I asked her if they notify payers when the children turn 18. She told me no! She said they have'' too many in the system to do that''  When I reminded her that I received a letter from them in Dec. saying that I was 3.00 dollars in arrears, and that they would take my income tax check, she quickly started backpedaling. Then she had the audacity to tell me that whatever I paid over, could be added to my other child's case!!! When I told her that was NOT what I wanted, she then told me that it was up to me to write a letter to the case officer, telling him that my son turned 18 over a year ago. I must say, I find this HIGHLY suspicious, if not illegal! They have no problem knowing if I'm late on a payment, yet they say they have too many in the system to actually know when to stop taking the cash!! I'm sure I'm not the first one this has happened to. I would be interested in knowing how many people this has happened to. Thanks for letting me vent. Feel free to print this if you like.
